The Liturgy of Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, is composed of three elements. The Liturgy of the Ashes, the Liturgy of the Word, and the Liturgy of Holy Communion. The Liturgy of Ashes includes the call for the Christian to keep a Holy Lent, to repenct and confess one's sins, and as a sign of repentance to receive anointing with the dust of the palms from the previous year's Palm Sunday Liturgy. If you still have your palm crosses at home from last year's service, please bring them to the church to be burned and blessed for this year's ashes. So important is this day that there are three Ash Wednesday Liturgies scheduled so all members can begin Lent by receiving the ashes and receiving Holy Communion. The Ash Wednesday Liturgy and Ashes services are at 6:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 7:00 pm. Nursery provided at the 7:00 pm service only.
